Ibn Umar on Bidah [Hasanah]

‘Abdullah b. ‘Umar – Allah be pleased with them both – said:

Every bid’ah (religious innovation) is misguidance, even if people think it is good.

    Perhaps an explanation of the narration if provided would be appreciated, since we do read something along the lines of:

    On that, 'Umar remarked, 'What an excellent Bid'a (i.e. innovation in religion) this is

    Can you please put the hadiith of 'Aaisha, when she stated [I'm paraphrasing] whoever introduces something new into this religion of ours will have it rejected. I can't seem to find it.

    Wa alaykumus-salam,

    This is a hadith from Allah’s Messenger – Allah’s praise and peace be upon him, reported by Aishah – Allah be pleased with her:

    Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not of it will have it rejected.

    In another wording:

    Whoever does a deed that we have not sanctioned will have it rejected.
