Dhikr and Sleep

‘Abdullah b. Mas’ûd – Allâh be pleased with him – said:

Falling asleep when remembering Allâh is from Shaytân; if you want you can test this: when you lie down and want to fall asleep, try remembering Allâh ‘azza wa jall.

Falling asleep when remembering Allah is from shaytan?????????????
Don't you mean "without" instead of "when"???

No, the meaning is Shaytan tries to make you tired and fall asleep when you remember Allah, so as to stop you from dhikr and good deeds.
    Barakallahu feekum.

Not at all. See previous comment and my reply. Note it says 'falling asleep', not 'going to sleep.' The message of this narration is Shaytan tries to make you feel tired and sleepy when you start to do dhikr. It does not talk about the ruling on going to sleep without doing any dhikr; that is a different issue.

What about the person, who goes on remembering and extolling Allah while going to sleep?

That would be a person who Shaytan hasn't been successful with in that instance. And Allah has enabled that person to remember Him at that time.
