Assalamu Alaykum, I like the fine saying of the salaf as it has great teaching for khalaf like, Thank You very much for the person who is bringing this to us. I like to ask if you can write a short note for every salaf you quote as in here I dont know Abu Ishaq and Ibrahim, if possible at least which century they belong to. BR Abu Zaynab
Wa alaykumus-salam,
Barakallahu feekum. I did try to include some biographical information in the early days of the site, but couldn’t keep up. Will try to do this insha Allâh. As a rule, all quotes translated on this site are from the Salaf, from the first three generations of Muslims.
Was Imam Fudayl ibn Iyyad rahimahullah from the Tabi'een or Atba ut Tabi'een?
Imam Abû Ali Al-Fudayl b. ‘Ayyâd is from the Atbâ Al-Tâbi’în. He died 187H. Allâh have mercy on him.
JazaakAllah khayr akhi. I know Imam Ibraheem ibn Maysarah(d.132H) was a Tabi'ee. Final question regarding this post….Was Imam Abû Ishâq Al-Hamdânî a Tabi'ee or from Atba ut tabi'een?
Barakallahu feek. Abû Ishâq Al-Hamdânî Al-Sabî’î (d.127 H) is from the Tâbi’în. It is said he saw Ali, and remembers him giving a khutbah. He reports from numerous Companions, and was known as one of the main scholars of Kûfâ in his time. Allâh have mercy on him.
